Sandpiper Ocean Cottages are ideally located just 8km north of Bicheno on the East Coast of Tasmania. It is a 30-minute drive to Freycinet National Park & the iconic Wineglass Bay, while The Bay of Fires is only an hour to the north. Set on 4 acres of natural coastal gardens, each cottage is private and spacious.
A short stroll through the dunes and you find yourself on spectacular Denison Beach, where you can walk barefoot for miles on the pristine white sands, swim safely or fish from the beach. The only sounds you'll hear are the waves, the birds & the squeak of the sand as you walk.
All our cottages are fully self-contained, with complete kitchen & laundry facilities, roomy lounge & dining areas, wood fires (except Hanalei) & covered rear decks with gas barbecues.
Cottages
Our original 2 bedroom cottages are called Sandpiper, Beachcomber & Driftwood. They all have the same interior layout, & sleep 5 people each. All our cottages have King beds in the main bedroom. Sandpiper has 3 single beds in bedroom #2, whereas Beachcomber & Driftwood have a Queen & Single bed.
They are spacious and cosy inside, with wood burning stoves as well as electric heating. All the cottages at Sandpiper are nestled among gardens & native bush which provides a peaceful setting & maximum privacy.
Our newest 2 bedroom cottage is called Hanalei, & is wheelchair/elderly friendly. It features a walk in shower, ramp access & extra wide doors.
Ocean View
Ocean View is a modern, fully self-contained, executive-style 1 bedroom cottage. It is very private and is ideal for couples - with a king bed, cosy wood fire, modern furnishings and a view of the ocean. Perfect for a romantic getaway!
The Beach House
For those wanting a bit more space & seclusion, we have The Beach House, a stunning 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with beautiful ocean views on 40 acres with its own beach access. It sleeps 6 people.
The Lookout
We are pleased to announce that we now also have a 3 bedroom house available to rent right in the heart of Bicheno! Located high on the hill at 27 Fraser Street, 'The Lookout' is ideal for those Sandpiper guests who would prefer to be just a short stroll from the shops & amenities in town, but who still want peace, privacy, plus ocean & bay views.
We just love dogs!
Sandpiper Cottages also welcomes any guests who would like to bring their well-behaved dogs along with them on their holiday! A flat $10 fee applies to each dog, & each cottage has its own gated deck. Pooches are welcome inside (though not on the beds) but are not allowed to roam free on the property due to the local wildlife & our own free ranging chickens!
Best of all, Denison Beach is leash free at all times of the year & perfect for tiring out your best friend!
For those guests who are missing the dogs they've left at home, we have 2 lovely Border Collies who just love to be spoiled with extra attention!
